First post..

Hello Blogland!

I'm not 100% sure why I've decided to create a blog as I've never really been one for keeping dairies and such, but as I'm newly unemployed and seem to have quite a lot of time on my hands I thought I'd give it a bash!

Just to get to grips with this whole blogging technology I'll try to add a few photos and use the Seven Random Things as a nice way to introduce myself.

  1. I live in Peterborough - now don't hold it against me as I'm technically not a local (I come from a village just down the road), I just have the misfortune of living here.
  2. I have an unhealthy obsession with baking.. Ever since I first made fairy cakes with my mum as a child I've been hooked. I never need an excuse to bake and for some reason I find it quite therapeutic.. That and I like to scrape the bowl out after I've fur the cakes in the oven!
  3. I've been a vegetarian for nearly 4 years. People always ask me why I don't eat meat (or fish for that matter) and its simply because I don't agree with battery farming and the like. Why on earth should an animal be subjected to some pretty rotten living conditions for its short life just so we can pay £1.99 for cheap, nutritionally bland chicken fillets?
  4. I live with a Yorkshireman. I'm quite fond of him in fact and I'm sure there will be many references to him in future posts. Unfortunately he is not so fond of all the chintzy and pink things that I love so much and can frequently be found hiding behind the screen of his laptop grumbling about "what do you need another cushion/bag/dress for?"
  5. I only have a semi firm grip on reality. I tend to spend much of my day with my head in the clouds (much to the annoyance of The Yorkshireman) and as a result have absolutely no comprehension of practical things like how to plum in a washing machine or how to tie a proper knot. I tend to leave all of these things to The Yorkshireman and busy myself with arranging scatter cushions and making cups of tea.
  6. I only drink decaffinated tea at home. This means my morning cup is mearly a placebo, but the advantage is that I can sleep at night.
  7. I have a highly strung and slightly neurotic cat called Kayobi. She is the prettiest kitty in all the land but sadly is not too fond of other people/cats/dogs/loud noises.
So to finish off I'll add a few photos of the The Yorkshireman and Kayobi and hopefully by tomorrow I'll have something interesting to blog about.

xx
